January 2025 RMIP Updates

Message from RMIP Leadership

We hope that RMIP study teams were able to enjoy the holiday season and had a happy start to this new year! We anticipate that 2025 will be a year of significant progress towards the RMIP goals and objectives to accelerate the development of safe and effective adult stem cell-based therapies, advancing scientific understanding, and fostering collaboration within the regenerative medicine community.

We look forward to existing awardees progressing towards their study objectives, collaborating with the IDCCH to generate and analyze molecular profiles of the stem cell or cell products, and concurrently working with the BioData Catalyst Data Management Core to maximize the value of RMIP data by preparing and sharing study data. We are eager to see newly awarded studies as they work with the IDCCH to develop and implement a molecular characterization project plan. Combining these diverse data sources holds significant potential for advancing our understanding of disease mechanisms and identifying novel therapeutic targets. We look forward to your participation in our quarterly RMIP research spotlights as we collectively learn and share research findings and experiences and foster a vibrant research community.

This collaborative approach will ensure that we maximize the impact and value of regenerative medicine studies as each contribute meaningfully to the overall goals of the RMIP program. We encourage all investigators to join us on this exciting journey throughout this year.

Many thanks from the RMIP Leadership

Recent Publications

Congratulations to the following study teams for their recent publications or preprints:

  • S. Shoeibi, …, and H. Wang. Immortalized mesenchymal stromal cells overexpressing alpha-1 antitrypsin protect acinar cells from apoptotic and ferroptotic cell death. J Cell Mol Med. 2024 Oct 8. doi:10.1111/jcmm.70093. PMID: 39468387

Meet with us

BDC now has office hours each Wednesday from 2:00 to 3:00 PM ET to assist investigators with aggregating and harmonizing RMIP study data on the ecosystem.

We continue to coordinate one-on-one meetings with study teams to discuss a data linkage strategy. This strategy will ensure that the cell characterization data is prepared and formatted appropriately for seamless sharing with the study team. The goal is to facilitate efficient data transfer and analysis.
