BDC is the preferred platform for aggregating the RMIP consortium data and will also be used as a staging area for preparing study data for ingest into the repository. Projects are the core building blocks of the BDC cloud platform with each project corresponding to a distinct scientific investigation. Each RMIP study will have a dedicated BDC project where data generated by RMIP investigators and the IDCCH will be aggregated. Data will be uploaded to the study-specific BDC project and, after initial harmonization checks are completed, pushed to the designated S3 buckets used for repository ingestion. Access to the BDC project is restricted, with Principal Investigators having admin rights to allow access to study collaborators.
Account Setup
RMIP investigators will need to create an account to access BDC. An NIH eRA commons account is needed to create a BDC account. A step-by-step Account Setup video tutorial is available to walk study teams through the process. Following account setup, RMIP investigators should then provide their BDC username to the DMC (email nhlbi.dmc.concierge@rti.org) so they can be added as an administrator for the project.
Methods for upload
Several methods available to uploading data to BDC including a web browser-based graphical user interface (GUI), command-line uploader (CLI), cloud volume import, or HTTP(S)/FTP upload. The following decision tree may be helpful in determining what mechanism will work best for you.
Several resources are available to instruct investigators to upload their data:
The DMC stands ready to provide support throughout the data upload process, and investigators should reach out (nhlbi.dmc.concierge@rti.org) if they run into any issues.
