Greetings!
My name is Dave Roberson. At Velsera I work in the role of community engagement. I am fully focused on BioData Catalyst and making sure researchers know about about the ecosystem and can use it to help further their research and their careers. I like talking to researchers and teachers to see how best we can accommodate their needs.
Prior to Velsera I worked for 10 years at the National Cancer Institute's Cancer Genomics Research Laboratory operating Next Generation DNA/RNA sequencing machines.
Hi Everyone,
My name is Kat Thayer and I am a senior project manager at the Broad Institute and I represent BioData Catalyst powered by Terra. My background is in biostatistics and cardiology research and wish I had learned more about cloud computing at the time. I am excited I get the chance to make data search and analysis in the cloud more accessible to you all to help facilitate your own research!
Looking forward to meeting all of you :)
Hello everyone!
My name is Emily Hughes. I am a Bioinformatics Systems Analyst as part of Paul Avillach's lab at Harvard Medical School. As part of BioData Catalyst, I work on the PIC-SURE data search and discovery platform. I'll be discussing this tool's functionality more at the session.
I am passionate about searching, discovering, and understanding data, and helping researchers start their projects. I'm very excited to hear from you all on this Forum and in the workshop!
Amber Voght
Welcome!
Thank you for attending our two-day virtual workshop, Starting Cloud-Based Research on BDC.
Feel free to engage with other users or create a post with any questions before, during, and after the workshop. We encourage all questions! This forum will also be monitored by our technical support staff during the workshop.
Introductions
Take a moment to introduce yourself; feel free to include your area of research, institution, what you hope to get out of the workshop, or any questions you have in advance!
I'll go first - I am Amber Voght, and I am a User Engagement Specialist with the BioData Catalyst Coordinating Center. I am excited for this workshop to get underway, and to hear about the research that participants are interested in or are currently doing.
Note: Slides and meeting info will be made available on the post here.
