A principal investigator (PI) must follow the normal dbGaP process by submitting a Data Access Request (DAR). Once the DAR has been approved in dbGaP by the NHLBI Data Access Committee, the data will be available to the PI in BDC. See more on the DAR process and Requesting Controlled-Access Data.

If you're not a PI, but your PI has a dbGaP DAR for the datasets you wish to access on BDC, confirm that you are set as a “Downloader” in dbGaP. You must be a designated downloader on dbGaP in order to access the hosted controlled datasets on BDC. Learn how to Assign Downloaders for dbGaP Data.
